I am Dawn Strauss-Berta! I live in Iowa, in a town called Bettendorf, right on the Mississippi river. I live with my husband of 23 years, and my two kids, Cas Berta and Carly. Although I live in Iowa, I was born and raised in NJ and am a true NJ girl. I am often told, “You can take the girl out of Jersey, but can never take Jersey out of the girl”.
I have an undergraduate degree in music education – (violin was my major instrument) and a doctorate degree in Chiropractic. I have been teaching online college classes in health and science for the past 13 years now, and online ESL classes at various companies for the past four years.
Wendy and I met in our ESL teaching lives. We also went on a cruise together before COVID closed the travel world down. I am super happy we are in this together!
My name is Wendy Blizard Eldredge and I live outside of Boston, Massachusetts in the beautiful town of Bolton.
In my work life I have served as a grant writer, started a nonprofit which I ran for 13 years, and went to grad school in my 40s to earn my Masters in Public Administration. When I was teaching in the UMASS system in 2010, we packed up and moved to China for three years for my husband’s career. Rather than go back to university teaching, I took some time off and dabbled in a few interesting things–one of which brought me to meeting Dawn.
My nice husband and I have two beautiful and brilliant daughters–one is local to us and one lives in Montana! Additionally, we have a borrowed son who lives in NYC with his very lovely girlfriend. There is a long story about how we came to borrow him, but we are keeping him and that’s that. Lastly, is our beloved Andrew-in-law. He came to us via marriage to our oldest and he had no idea what he was getting into.
I am tall and mostly always fun.
