April 16 Live Class

Friday, April 16, 2021; 7 PM to 8 PM EST one time class

Follow along step-by-step as we paint a serene mountain landscape that shows depth. Use a wet-on-wet watercolor technique to layer the translucent colors, and utilize a hair dryer to dry the paint as we work.

The class will start with a face-to-face introduction and a brief slideshow about atmospheric perspective and space (one of the elements of art) in landscape painting.

When we begin to paint, I will turn the camera to view my hands and tabletop. As we paint each layer, we’ll use a hairdryer to allow us to finish the painting within the hour. If you’ve never used watercolors before this is a great place to start!

If there are two students, who live in the same house, please have two blow dryers available. In the class, we do four steps that need to be dried before we move on to the next one. If the drying time is doubled four times during the class, the class will run late.

I never cancel classes due to low enrollment. Even if you are the only student enrolled I will still teach class.

You must be 18+ to take classes at yourteachablemoment.com

  • Two-pieces of 8" x 10" or 9" x 12" thick paper - 90#mixed media paper is fine. 140#watercolor paper is best.
  • Pan or tube watercolor paint in the colors of your choice. If you are buying tubes of individual colors I suggest you purchase black (for the foreground), blue (for the sky) and two other colors of your choice.
  • Paper towels.
  • Masking tape, painters tape or clear tape.
  • Paintbrush with soft bristles. Size 10 or 12.
  • Two containers with water.
  • Hairdryer for drying paint in-between steps. This is a must have. Without the hairdryer the painting won’t be able to be completed in the time allotted. Please have one hairdryer per student if two people in your house are taking the class.

Hello! I am a lifelong lover and learner of all things visual art. My artistic journey began as a teenager, when I apprenticed with a married couple who are studio jewelers. In their work, they sculpt miniature people and animals,
