Cas Berta

Hello! I'm Cas, a trained Sexual Health Educator who has taught high school sex ed for going on three years. I teach a gender and sexuality inclusive curriculum focused on comprehensive, accurate, and relevant information to help empower young people to make the best decisions for themselves. I've taught for multiple Boston Public High Schools as well as being a Sex Educator on Outschool for older teens. I have worked with the national organization Peer Health Exchange, a program that teaches inner-city public schools about the importance of sexual education, safety, and identity empowerment.

I'm currently finishing up my final year at Boston University studying Communications and Women's, Gender, and Sexuality studies. I am a faculty member with the WGS department and have been a Teaching Assistant for the Introductory course for the past two years. For Boston University's 2019 STEM Education Symposium, I co-presented on the necessity and importance of gender-inclusive teaching in academia. This is the philosophy which I carry into all of my work so that all of my students can feel seen, heard, and represented.

I am a Gender Non-Conforming Queer person who uses they/them pronouns. Since coming out at the beginning of 2020, I have learned the importance of educating everyone, young and old, about the wide swath of gender identities and sexualities.
